Now we’re not saying that they 2008 to 2013 Jeep Liberty power window regulators are a dream, but these 2002 to 2007 model year contain the worst power window regulator mess ever seen by the automobile door, the plastic coated drive-shaft power window regulator patented in 1960.
As you can imagine, this earned the Jeep Liberty the honor of being the worst power window regulator offender on the planet….BY DOUBLE! You won’t find anyone more upset about power windows than a Jeep Liberty owner. For those of you wondering how we know so much about these vehicles, let us say this: We live in Phoenix, likely surrounded by more Jeep Libertys in a 150 mile radius than were sold on the entire West Coast and because our repair averages $200 less than what anyone else charges in town, we see a good chunk of them on a yearly basis. After All, we do live on the face of the sun. Knowing that our customers have been through the ringer, we’ve worked hard to alleviate their woes in a way that has them loving their Jeep Liberty all over again.
Failure in the Jeep Liberty power window system is so rarely the motor or the switches that before we go any further, we’d like to add this…. Unless your window suddenly stops work AND is stuck up, suspect the power window regulator first. If you have none of the complications listed below, start testing the other systems by depressing the switch and watching your RPMs to see if there is a power draw or if you experience light dimming or testing to see if all the switch buttons feel the same under your finger tip when pulled or depressed. Customers with power window regulator failure in their Jeep Liberty call and complain of windows “popping and dropping”, or coming out and finding a window down when they KNOW that it was up. It’s not uncommon for us to hear about the sudden appearance of wire or fuzzy caterpillar type thing poking up from inside the panel and the window won’t move.
What We Do
At Power Window Repair, we only repair OEM Jeep Liberty power window regulators. We believe so strongly in our proprietary method of repair that we have an additional fee for all non-rebuildable cores. Power Window Repair defines a “non-rebuildable” window regulator core as an aftermarket, non-OEM window regulator or an OEM window regulator that someone has attempted to repair unsuccessfully. When this happens, we simply add that fee for our rebuilt Jeep Liberty OEM core and we install quality and reliability back in your door! There are parts sold, boasting to “fix” the Jeep Liberty power window regulator problem, but that’s the issue, these things don’t have just one problem, they have what we like to call multiple catastrophic failure points.
How We Do It
There are good reasons behind what we do and how we do it!

If we are going to stake our good reputation on a repair, you can bet we’ll need to do it our way! The reasons are simple. Our repair is stronger and superior to even the original OEM design, aftermarket parts are made with the cheapest of materials and are inferior, and most importantly any repair done in a junkyard or slapped together is never going to be worth the money!
Plain and simple, this Jeep Liberty power window regulator is just not strong enough. What we’ve found is that the mechanism that is designed to hold the glass carrier to the flexible drive-shaft is under a lot of continuous stress and that this mechanism really consists of a small piece of plastic. When that piece of plastic cracks, the glass carrier is in turn broken, breaking away from the flexible drive-shaft and causing the window to slide down into the panel.
The other problems with see with this Jeep Liberty power window regulator are the delivery method between the motor and the glass carrier and pin and spring clip attaching the glass to the regulator. The delivery method between the motor and the glass carrier is a plastic flexible tube. The keyword here is plastic. This flexible tube can become brittle and break (more like self-destruct), causing that “fuzzy cable” to go just about anywhere in the panel when the switch is used, including up through the trim. And as if that wasn’t enough to vote this power window regulator the worst of the worst, the glass carrier has a pin and spring clip that connects it to the bottom of the glass and those are also under so much pressure that they eventually break, spring and send the glass into the panel. It’s when the power window regulator breaks in a way that interferes with other mechanisms in the door, where we see jamming of the door lock latch. Taking the door panel off from the inside in this vehicle is extremely difficult without breaking the door panel clips. It take time, patience and skill. If our guys say these are hard to work on for them, an experienced mechanic who knows what he’s doing is absolutely necessary unless you have our telephone number and live in the Greater Phoenix Area.
Our proprietary repair, designed specifically for this Jeep Liberty OEM power window regulator covers all angles. We apply several stainless steel avionic style repairs to the areas we know these window regulators break, while strengthening them in the areas we know are weak points, broken or not. This repair design is designed to be permanent just like our other repairs.
We’ve heard it all. From saying they just replaced it months ago themselves, to they’ve paid someone to do it 9 months ago and now they’re being asked for more labor to install the part under warranty and worse yet, half the customers we talk to and service have had it replaced 2 or 3 times before finding Power Window Repair. This just reinforces what we already know. While the price looks right, those parts are inferior to the OEM part. Side by side, there’s no comparison. These power window regulators often break under warranty, causing you to pay more in labor at your mechanics or in your time and labor shipping parts back and forth, uninstalling and reinstalling. That process can quickly turn into a shade-tree mechanics nightmare.
While we understand that money is often a factor in the decision making process, PLEASE DON’T TAKE YOUR NICE CAR TO A MEAN OLD JUNKYARD OR LET SOMEONE WHO IS INEXPERIENCED WORK ON IT!! It’s immediately evident to us when someone inexperienced has been in the door of a vehicle before us. You can’t fool our technicians. These repairs are often crude and in turn have damaged some of the internal workings of the door, for example the power window switch connectors, interior door handle linkage, the door lock system, speakers and wire harness. The repair may have looked enticing and may have even appeared to work for a short time, but it’s going to cause one whopper of a headache later.
